Studies in the novel (or literary text analysis) is a course that initiates students to the analysis of literary texts. This course offers also students some important mediating tools—literary concepts and theories—that will help them decorticate and examine the different texts that they will discover during the lectures. This course is very important for students as it permits them to develop their critical thinking skills.

Targeted audience: 3rd year students, English language and literature.

The Objectives:

  • Develop a sense of critical thinking.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of what do we mean by literary theory and criticism.
  • Analyze and critically read literary texts.
  • Apply some literary concepts and theories on texts in her/his essays.
  • Compare and contrast between the different texts.
